Fiesta Red Fender Stratocaster® Japan Vintage Series
Probably built around 1992 and heavily modified, approx. 3.0k
- Body:
- Original colour daphne blue was completely removed, then the body was re-shaped to get those slim "female" contours all the pre-CBS-originals had. The refinish was done with grey primer first, followed by an ultra thin "hyundai Scarlett red" automobile laquer (it really matched the classical fiesta red!), finally an ultra thin clear coating was added. The body has aged naturally just by playing the guitar. The scratches, dings and dongs and even clear coat crackling came all from using the instrument. Very nice.
- Although it is not an alder or ash body, but made from basswood, this body is very resonant and light. Basswood has some influence to the sound and emphasizes the lower mids, which are a bit more dominant than on "usual" Strats. This gives a lot more body to the tone and is one reason basswood is often used for guitars that are predominantly played with highgain-sounds i.e. early Charvel®-Strats were made from basswood. So it's not just a kind of cheap wood, it does sound quite well.
- Neck:
- 21 Frets, Slabboard Rosewood Neck with big C-Shape
- Refreted with Dunlop® 6105, freeboard radius, flattened to 12" for a most comfortable playing feel
- These Dunlop's provide Ultra-Twang! Certainly SRV would have liked them...
- Hardware:
- Standard Japan Vintage-Series hardware, the term (slightly floating installation) works great after a careful set-up.
- Electronics:
- Standard wiring, except for Dual-Master-Tone-Pots: the first tone-pot comes with "normal" Capacitor to cut treble frequencies, the second "custom" tone-pot has a different capacitor to cut low-bass frequencies
- Pickups are Kinman® Authentic Vintage Noiseless "AVN-Blues-Set" ... These are simply fantastic!!!
