Fender Bandmaster Reverb Head 50W SilverFace Built 1979 modded 2002

The output transformer for the Bandmaster Reverb Head was originally a Ultralinear type, for my taste way too muddy and bassy and therefore replaced.

Configuration (similar to Bassman head but with onboard reverb and 3 + 1 channels switchable)

  • Gain Stages and Controls
    • 3 channel (by footswitch)
      • 1st channel: Classic Fender Clean tone, bright, twangy and very smooth (2 tube stages), a little hotter than usual, Fender Tone Stack
      • 2nd channel: crunch/lead, with 4 gain stages and 2 complete tonestacks in series (Second is classic Marshall tone stack), very creamy "buttery" tone for lead and rhythm work. Clean channel can be mixed into 2nd channel via front panel switch
      • 3rd channel: lead, Marshall-like tone, more focussed tone for heavier licks
    • Controls: Ch1: Vol, Treble, Mid, Bass, Ch2/3: Gain, Treble, Mid, Bass, Master Vol.1/2 ,Presence, Reverb, Dwell, Fx Send/Return, Speaker 4/8 Ohms Selector, "Hybrid" switch to add Clean channel to use in combination with 2nd channel
